A WARM WELCOME TO THE LEEDS TENNIS LEAGUE WEBSITE!
Due to the COVID 19 pandemic Government restrictions, the Leeds Summer League 2020 has been suspended. The League Committee will continue to monitor Government and LTA Guidelines to determine when and how Team Competitions can recommence.
The 2020/21 Winter League is still under review, and dependant on when the Carnegie Sports Centre can accommodate matches in the current COVID 19 climate. As a result, we are unable to operate the first half of the 2020/2021 season but are still hoping to run the second half after Christmas depending on the University’s opening hours as the winter progresses. Further updates will be provided nearer the date, but clubs are encouraged to respond to the recent request from the League Co-Ordinator for expressions of interest to enter.
Please see the top menu and page links down the left for further details.
The Annual General Meeting took place at Alwoodley on 11th March 2020 and the minutes are now available on the League Info page of this site.
Leeds League Web-Site support
At the March AGM, it was announced that volunteers are required to administer and support the League Web-Site from 2021. Please contact the current IT Support Officer, Steve Bastow, for more information and/or to express an interest.
A role description document is available here to provide more background.
The Leeds Tennis League has been in existence since 1964, when it was set up by 6 local clubs to give them the opportunity to play competitive mixed doubles.
It has since expanded, and the league now comprises around 90 teams, playing mixed/medley, mens, ladies and junior team tennis. Teams are entered by participating tennis clubs from within Leeds and surrounding districts. A full list of participating clubs can be found by following the Clubs & Maps link above. Enquiries from new clubs are always welcome – please contact the Chairman or Secretary in the first instance.
In addition, there is an indoor winter medley league, which plays at Leeds Beckett University’s Carnegie Tennis Centre, a Veterans League and a thriving Round Robin Singles League open to any player in the area.
The league is run by a team of volunteers, supported by Leeds City Council, with financial support from the Lawn Tennis Association.
An agreed constitution provides a framework for running the league and Autumn and Spring AGM’s are organised each year to manage it.
